20 In '20: #3 DK Metcalf

Wild Card Round - Seattle Seahawks v Philadelphia Eagles

Everyone seems to make their annual year-in-review lists. Not me. Time to look into the ol' crystal ball. Time to predict the future.

As we celebrate a new year in sports, I give you the 20 Seattle sports figures I predict we'll talking about most often in 2020...

20 In '20: #4 DK Metcalf

There must be a reason DK Metcalf fell to the last pick of the second round. What about his route tree? Rookie wide receivers struggle in their first year. Isn’t that what we heard?

Metcalf proved his critics wrong last season, and that includes all 32 NFL GM’s. (Yes, even John. After all, he did prefer LJ Collier). But the star of the Indianapolis combine was not only “as advertised” physically, his work ethic became his hallmark. As a result, DK shattered statistical expectations, finishing his rookie season with 58 catches, 900 yards, 7 touchdowns, and a national coming out party during the first round of the playoffs.

Now what? Football people tell me the most improvement for a pro occurs between his first and second season. And Mike Holmgren claims “there is no ceiling. He can be as good as he wants to be.” This is a guy that coached Jerry friggin’ Rice!! If DK Mania ran wild in 2019, what the hell are we in store for in 2020?
