20 In '20: #1 Jimmy Lake

Chris Petersen shocked the college football world when he announced he wouldn’t coach beyond the 2019 Apple Cup. Finished with a win, of course.

There really wasn’t any doubt regarding who’d replace Petersen. So, after the stages of disappointment, depression and denial passed, the mind of the Husky fan immediately switched to acceptance that the Jimmy Lake Era was here, just a little earlier than any of us believed.

Lake seems to have everything it takes to succeed as the head coach of a major college football program—except experience at the job. And that’s a big one.

Lake is now CEO of the proud University of Washington football program. And he takes over for a coach who delivered the Huskies back to the top of the Pac 12 mountain. Nothing short of staying there will suffice.
