Nick Saban: "We were second in recruiting last year, A&M was first. A&M bought every player on their team. Made a deal for name, image, and likeness. We didn't buy one player. I don't know if we're going to be able to sustain that in the future because more and more people are doing it.”
Jimbo Fisher: “It’s despicable that somebody can say things about somebody, and more importantly, 17-year-old kids. You’re taking shots at 17-year-old kids and their families. Have they broken state laws? We 'bought every player on this group'? We never bought anybody. No rules are broken. Nothing was done wrong. It's a shame that you've got to sit here and defend 17-year-old kids and their families. It's despicable that a reputable head coach can come out and say this when things don't go his way. The narcissist in him doesn't allow those things to happen and it's ridiculous when he's not on top."
Doug Gottlieb: “Jimbo Fisher is the most full of it out of anybody because nothing Nick Saban said was inaccurate. They [Texas A&M], have in fact found ways to funnel money to every player they signed, especially the top kids they signed they found big money for. Dudes are getting PAID and all those guys at A&M got paid, this is not a state-kept secret. It is legal? Yeah, technically there are ways in which they can make it legal. Is it ethical? That just depends on where you stand with ethics. There were no accusations of state law, Jimbo is just taking and making stuff up. He literally sounds like he’s blathering about something instead of what I think he’s doing, which is scorched earth… Saban is the absolute master at all this. He controls the media, the narrative, and motivates his boosters to always be one step ahead of everybody else. Saban has gotten everything he wanted out of this, meanwhile, he made Jimbo look like 1. – a liar, and 2. – he’s kind of blathering. Nothing that was done was illegal and they believe ethical, but please don’t sit here and lie to us and tell us that those kids didn’t get paid. That’s not laughable, it’s embarrassing. I don’t think Saban in any way is flustered or frustrated – he knows how this thing is going to play out and work. Nick Saban is always going to get his way, he knows what he’s doing, and it does feel like him calling out A&M got him everything he wanted.” (Full Segment Above)
