Former Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams has agreed to the largest coaching contract in NBA history with the Detroit Pistons, reportedly paying him upwards of $10M a year. Apparently getting fired was the best thing that could have happened as he is set in Detroit for the next six years. It seems to be a pattern in the NBA with Nick Nurse upgrading to coach the Sixers after being dismissed in Toronto, and Doc Rivers expected to land another high-paying position in the offseason.

Dan Patrick: “Monty Williams, of course, is the highest paid coach in NBA history. The Detroit Pistons, they gave him a deal that he couldn’t refuse. So, he gets fired by Phoenix and then he got a raise going to Detroit.”
