In 1969, the Seattle Pilots traded away a little-known minor league outfielder named Lou Piniella to the Kansas City Royals for 2 prospects. He would go on to hit .282 with 11 home runs & 68 RBI to win AL Rookie of the Year.
"Sweet Lou" would end up playing for the Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees.
He managed the Yankees, Reds, Mariners, Devil Rays & Cubs.
An all-star in 1972 and 3x World Series Champion (1977, 1978 & 1990), he was named Manager of the Year in 1995, 2001 & 2008.
He was inducted into the Mariners Hall of Fame on August 9, 2014.
