Seahawks Training Camp Day One: Welcome Back Football

The Seahawks practiced for the first time in front of fans to kick off the unofficial return of football on Wednesday. All eyes were on #14 to see if D.K. Metcalf would show up, and if he would practice without a long term deal finalized. Metcalf did come to practice but did not participate, a very familiar tactic that Seahawks players have taken in the past when negotiating new deals before the season starts.

Seattle also has a QB competition for the first time since 2012, with Drew Lock and Geno Smith set to go head to head to compete for the lead role in the Seahawks offense. Geno seemed to take the majority of the first team reps in day 1, but it is something we will continue to monitor as camp rolls on.

Chris Carson announced his retirement earlier this week and Pete Carroll had nothing but praise for the Running Back and his Career in Seattle. Carson is retiring due to a neck injury after failing multiple doctors tests.

K.J. Wright also announced his retirement after signing a one day contract in front of an emotional Pete Carroll and John Schneider to make sure he would retire as a Seahawk.
