POSTGAME: First period struggles mount to 5-0 defeat to St. Louis (AUDIO)

Ville Husso earned his second shutout of the season on 27 saves while the St. Louis Blues used two first period goals as a foundation to defeat the Seattle Kraken, 5-0 before a sellout crowd on Friday at Climate Pledge Arena.

The Kraken fell to 0-2 in the season series against St. Louis and 2-2 on a six-game homestand. They return to action on Sunday, 6pm PT (950 KJR / Kraken Audio Network) against the Florida Panthers, the first ever visit for Florida to Seattle.

Tyler Bozak's backdoor shorthanded goal put the Blues up 1-0 and Brayden Schenn followed up a rebound on the doorstep for a two goal lead and power play goal at 10:23 of the first period.

Joey Daccord helping keep the score in check which included 12 second period saves, and 26 in total for the game.

Pavel Buchnevich scored off the rush just 24 seconds into the third period and Colton Parayko, becoming the first Blues defenseman since Rob Ramage in 1984-85 to take a penalty shot, scored on a snap shot followed by Jordan Kyrou's tuck at the right post for a 5-0 cushion at 9:31 of the third.
