After not playing for nine days - for 37 minutes, so much had gone right. But for the final 23 minutes, the opposite spoiled the night for the Seattle Kraken.

Nazem Kadri, extending his point streak to 12 straight games, scored a game winning goal with 5:43 left in regulation to cap a three-goal rally and help the Colorado Avalanche send the Kraken to a 4-3 defeat, Monday night at Ball Arena in Denver.

For nearly the first two periods, the Kraken, looking to break an 0-4-1 skid in five games and snap the Avalanche 11-home game win streak, seemed to be on the fast track for another season signature win by building a 3-1 lead on the strength of goals from Marcus Johansson (power play), Jared McCann, and Colin Blackwell.

Philipp Grubauer, returning to Denver for the first time since leaving for the Kraken in free agency, had 19 saves with several stops coming on high danger chances.

Nicolas Aube-Kubel (two goals) kept Colorado in the game. Devon Toews tied the game with 8:13 left in regulation, a goal that survived video replay for review on a kicking motion. Kadri then buried a snap shot off the left wing for the eventual winner.

The Kraken will aim for their first win in seven games on Wednesday, visiting the Dallas Stars at 5:30pm (950 KJR / Kraken Audio Network).
