In too tough of a night to eventually rally, the Seattle Kraken fell behind with three unanswered goals and got their only source of offense from a Ryan Donato second period power play goal, en route to a 4-1 defeat to the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday at Honda Center.
The Kraken finished a brief two-game trip, 1-1, and will come back home for a three-game homestand against Edmonton, Toronto, and Arizona starting Saturday at 7pm with the Oilers.
Anaheim went up 2-0 in the first period on goals by Trevor Zegras and a shorthanded goal by Derek Grant, before Troy Terry buried a loose puck at 1:52 of the second period for a 3-0 edge.
Donato finished a cross-ice feed by Jordan Eberle from the left circle with 5:34 left in the second period for a power play goal, but the Ducks extended the lead to 4-1 on Sam Carrick's sharp angle goal near the right post in the third period.
Philipp Grubauer took the loss with 15 saves before giving way to Chris Driedger to start the third period, with Grubauer out of the game after colliding with Sam Carrick, who crashed the net. Anthony Stolarz made 19 saves for Anaheim.
