The Seattle Kraken have a Tuesday night affair at Calgary, and can make a U-turn back home.
Their Wednesday matchup against the host Winnipeg Jets, scheduled to finish a brief two-game road trip at 5:30pm PT, has been postponed due to extreme weather conditions and rescheduled for Sunday, May 1 at 11am PT, the National Hockey League announced on Tuesday.
The province of Manitoba is bracing for a winter storm affecting the Winnipeg area reportedly as its worst in decades, bringing a possible 11-19 inches of snow and high winds around the city of Winnipeg starting Tuesday.
The regular season for the Kraken was originally scheduled to end April 29 and is now scheduled to conclude with the May 1 contest at Winnipeg.
“The decision to postpone the game at this time was made in order to minimize the potential disruption to the regular-season schedule in the event the severe weather that is expected to hit the Winnipeg area were not only to force cancellation of tomorrow night’s game, but also prevents timely and necessary post- game travel, including, specifically, the Jets’ ability to travel for their game in Florida on Friday, April 15,” the NHL said in a statement.
The Kraken have ten games left in the regular season, eighth in the Pacific Division at 23-43-6. Winnipeg is five games back of a playoff spot in the Western Conference, at 35-28-11.
