Phoenix Suns guard Diana Taurasi, the WNBA's all-time leading scorer, announced her retirement after 20 seasons in an exclusive interview with TIME on Tuesday (February 25).

“Mentally and physically, I’m just full,” Taurasi said. “That’s probably the best way I can describe it. I’m full and I’m happy.”

Taurasi, a three-time NCAA champion at UConn and three-time WNBA champion with the Mercury, ends her basketball career with a strong claim as the greatest of all-time, with a league-record 10,646 regular season points -- nearly 3,000 more than runner-up Tina Charles -- and having been selected as such in a fan poll conducted by ESPN in 2021.

“I have a resume,” Taurasi told TIME. “It’s not up to me to grade it.

Taurasi spent her entire WNBA career in Phoenix, having been selected No. 1 overall in the 2004 WNBA Draft and winning the WNBA Rookie of the Year award. The former UConn standout was an 11-time WNBA All-Star, 10-time All-WNBA First Team selection, a four-time All-WNBA Second Team selection, a five-time WNBA scoring champion and the 2014 WNBA assists leader, as well as being selected to the WNBA 15th, 20th and 25th Anniversary Teams.

Taurasi also won six gold medals with Team USA during her Olympic career from 2004 to 2024, three gold and one bronze at the World Championships from 2006 to 2010 and was a six-time EuroLeague champion.
