The Seattle Seahawks will see the return of running back Rashaad Penny to the lineup as he was activated from the injured reserve list prior to Monday night's game against the New Orleans Saints.
However, the team will also be without defensive end Darrell Taylor and left guard Damien Lewis as both starters were ruled inactive for Seattle due to injuries.
Penny has been on injured reserve since injuring his calf in the season opener against the Indianapolis Colts. His return provides a boost to a running back group that is without Chris Carson, who is on injured reserve with a neck injury, and Alex Collins battling a groin issue that had him questionable to play against the Saints.
With Taylor out for Seattle, the team will go into the contest with the Saints without a single player in uniform that has more than a single sack this season. Taylor leads the team with four through six games.
Lewis' absence will move Jamarco Jones into the starting lineup at left guard.
Cornerback John Reid was also ruled out due to a knee injury. Quarterback Jacob Eason, claimed off waivers from the Colts on Wednesday, is inactive. Jake Luton was elevated from the practice squad for a second straight week to serve as the backup to Geno Smith.
Defensive end L.J. Collier and tackle Stone Forsythe are the remaining inactives for Seattle.
While Penny's return is providing some boost for Seattle, the Saints are seeing five starters return to action Monday night. Defensive end Marcus Davenport, linebacker Kwon Alexander, and wide receiver Tre'Quan Smith were all activated off injured reserve on Monday by New Orleans. Additionally, left tackle Terron Armstead and center Erik McCoy are also back in the lineup tonight after missing the last two games with injuries.
Quarterback Taysom Hill (concussion), wide receiver Deonte Harris (hamstring), defensive end Payton Turner (calf) and running back Dwayne Washington (neck) are inactive due to injuries for the Saints.. Quarterback Ian Book, defensive tackle Malcolm Roach and defensive end Jalyn Holmes are also inactive for New Orleans.
With Hill and Book inactive, Trevor Siemian will serve as the backup quarterback to Jameis Winston for New Orleans.
