RENTON -- The Seattle Seahawks will see the return of running back Chris Carson and Shaquill Griffin to the lineup on Monday night against the Philadlephia Eagles after a four-game absence.
Carson and Griffin were both injured in the team's loss to the Arizona Cardinals last month. Carson sprained his foot while Griffin sustained a concussion and pulled his hamstring. They were both off the final injury report of the week and will make their return this weekend.
Carson will jump right back into his starting role in the backfield with Carlos Hyde and DeeJay Dallas serving at the backups. Travis Homer has been ruled out due to wrist, hand and knee injuries.
"He looks really good to me," head coach Pete Carroll said of Carson. "He looked explosive and in great shape. He's got fresh legs benefit, you know. You can tell, you can feel it. His change of direction, all this stuff, so he's really raring to go. He's full go."
Griffin's return is a timely one as well as Quinton Dunbar remains on injured reserve and D.J. Reed, who has played Griffin's spot at left cornerback the past two games, is questionable with a foot injury.
"Shaquill made it through the whole week, no setbacks at all. He's ready to play," Carroll said.
Center Ethan Pocic is also returning to the lineup after missing the last two games with a concussion as well. However, right tackle Brandon Shell was ruled out due to a high-ankle sprain. Cedric Ogbuehi will get his first start for Seattle in place of Shell against the Eagles.
"Cedric's a guy that from day one you saw the athleticism, you saw the talent, you saw the high level of the ability to pass protect and sink his hips. He's very athletic so he can he can do a lot of great things out in space," offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said. "... If Cedric goes out there and plays, we have no questions he's going to go up there and play really well."
As for Shell, Carroll said he finally started feeling better at the end of their week but that they won't know if he can bounce back until he tries to work on the injury next week.
"He's getting around pretty good right now finally, but not until you push on it do you know (how it is) so we won't know till the end of next week, how he's doing," Carroll said.
Wide receivers Freddie Swain and David Moore both are listed as questionable to play. Swain has been dealing with a foot issue the last couple of weeks while Moore had a hip injury surface in practice on Friday. Carroll said that Swain is expected to play and that they are confident Moore will be able to go as well.
"Freddie's fine," Carroll said. "He had a family thing that he took care of. He's ready to go. He practiced today, looks fine. David just felt a little something yesterday so we just got to make sure he's OK. He thinks he's gonna play and isn't concerned about it. One of our guys had the exact same thing, Ryan Neal, had it a while back and was fine with it so we're kind of keeping our fingers crossed."
If one or both are unable to go on Monday, the Seahawks can call up any of their three receivers on the practice squad for additional depth: John Ursua, Cody Thompson and Aaron Fuller.
Backup linemen Jordan Simmons (calf) and Kyle Fuller (high-ankle sprain) are also questionable.
