Mariners trade Daniel Vogelbach to Blue Jays for cash considerations

Chicago White Sox v Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners have traded designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for cash considerations.

Vogelbach, 27, was designated for assignment by the Mariners last week after getting just five hits in 53 at-bats this season for the team. He was named to the All-Star team last year after clubbing 21 home runs over the first half of the season. However, his bat would disappear the second of the season. He hit just .162 after the break last year with an OPS of just .626.

Those struggles continued into this season with just a .094 average and a .476 OPS in parts of 18 games played for the Mariners.

Vogelbach was acquired in a trade from the Chicago Cubs in 2016 and appeared in parts of five seasons for Seattle.
