The Seahawks are adding former Dallas Cowboys wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal to their coaching staff, a source confirmed to 950 KJR.
The addition was first reported by Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic.
Seattle has had an opening on its coaching staff ever since former assistant Steve Shimko left to take a job as tight ends coach at Boston College last month. Lal served as the wide receivers coach with the Indianapolis Colts in 2017 when current Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was the team's quarterbacks coach.
Lal was let go back by Dallas at the end of the season as the team changed head coaches from Jason Garrett to Mike McCarthy.
The role Lal will fill with the Seahawks has yet to be finalized. He will work with the offensive coaching staff in some capacity.
Lal played football at the University of Washington from 1990-92 and was a member of the 1991 national championship team. Lal has 13 years of coaching experience in the NFL with his last two years being with the Cowboys. Lal has also coached for the New York Jets, Buffalo Bills and Oakland Raiders.
