20 In '20: #13 Chris Carson

Arizona Cardinals v Seattle Seahawks

Everyone seems to make their annual year-in-review lists. Not me. Time to look into the ol' crystal ball. Time to predict the future.

As we celebrate a new year in sports, I give you the 20 Seattle sports figures I predict we'll talking about most often in 2020...

Chris Carson has been a great Seahawk. Back-to-back 1000 yard NFL seasons on sheer power, grit and fearlessness. Carson has run through many walls for Pete Carroll—perhaps one too many. A hip injury ended his 2019 season weeks before the playoffs, but he won’t require surgery, which suggests he’ll be ready for training camp… in theory.

Here’s the rub. After 574 carries, 2589 yards, a broken leg and fractured hip through only three years of running harder than any back in the NFL, might Carson and his agent demand a new contract this summer? A former 7th round pick, Carson has earned a combined 1.6 million through three grueling seasons. His agent might not allow him to suffer a fourth year of abuse without a major pay raise and extension.

What surely complicates matters is that the Pete and John may not be inclined to play ball. I fear that this could get messy. It has the potential to be the top drama of the Seahawks offseason.
