RENTON -- Four Seahawks are listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, but head coach Pete Carroll is optimistic about the chances all four will play.
Defensive ends Ziggy Ansah and Quinton Jefferson, running back Rashaad Penny and cornerback Neiko Thorpe were all listed as questionable to play against the Cardinals. Thorpe was the only one of the group that wasn't a full participant in practice on Friday.
"All those guys that are questionable have a really good chance to play," Carroll said.
Ansah was limited on Wednesday and did not practice on Thursday due to a sore back come out of his first action last week against the New Orleans Saints.
“He needed a couple days. He had just a sore back from some stuff that cleared up today. He was fine today," Carroll said. "It wasn’t an injury. He had some strain, a little strain or a spasm kind of thing that they worked out. He’s fine.”
Jefferson was also given two days off from practice due to a hip issue but is expected to be good to go as well.
"He bounced back today also. We gave him a couple days and then he came out today and looked good again," Carroll said.
Penny missed last week's game against the Saints due to a slight hamstring tweak that popped up in practice a week ago. He did not practice on Wednesday, was limited on Thursday and was a full-go in the team's lighter practice on Friday.
“We’ve got to get to game time to see what happens,’’ Carroll said. “But he had a good week in preparation for it, and he didn’t get to work every day this week but he did finish out the week, so that was a good sign. He feels pretty good. He is dying to play."
Thorpe has missed the last two games due to a strained hamstring sustained in the season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Guard/center Ethan Pocic is listed as doubtful to play due to a mid-back injury.
Tight end Luke Willson has jumped right back into the offense and will play Sunday against the Cardinals. He was signed on Wednesday following the trade of Nick Vannett to Pittsburgh for a 2020 fifth-round draft pick.
“He had a great week," Carroll said. "I don’t know how he did it. He looked like he’d been here the whole time. Everything that he retained, and then the new stuff that he had to learn. He and Pat McPherson worked it out and he had a very good week. He’ll be part of the plan.”
First-round pick L.J. Collier will also be active after being a healthy scratch for last week's game against the Saints.
“We’re looking for him to be part of it," Carroll said.
Defensive tackle Bryan Mone cleared waivers after being released on Thursday and was seen in the team's locker room after practice on Friday. The expectation is the Seahawks are bringing him back to their practice squad.
“We had to move some stuff around because of some uncertainty with injuries. We are hoping to get him back on the squad here in a little bit," Carroll said.
