Rashaad Penny out with hamstring; Tre Flowers active

Seattle Seahawks v Pittsburgh Steelers

SEATTLE -- Two injuries in practice during the week put the status of second-year players in question for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints.

A hamstring injury will sideline running back Rashaad Penny while cornerback Tre Flowers is active and available after rolling his ankle in practice on Thursday.

Flowers did not practice on Friday due to the injury but will be in uniform. If he can't last the entirety of the game, the Seahawks will need to turn to Akeem King, Jamar Taylor and Ugo Amadi as their depth options.

Penny tweaked his hamstring late in practice on Friday and is being held out against the Saints. C.J. Prosise and Travis Homer will be next up in line behind starter Chris Carson.

Defensive end Ziggy Ansah will make his debut for Seattle after missing the first two games following shoulder surgery. Wide receiver David Moore will make his season debut after being sidelined two games with a fractured humerus.

Guard/center Ethan Pocic is out due to a neck injury. Safety Tedric Thompson and cornerback Neiko Thorpe will each miss a second straight game due to hamstring injuries.

Defensive end L.J. Collier and wide receivers Gary Jennings and John Ursua are healthy scratches for Seattle.

The Saints list of inactives is headlined by quarterback Drew Brees, who had thumb surgery earlier this week. Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill will take the quarterback snaps in place of the league's all-time leading passer.

Defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins is still out due to an Achilles injury and wide receiver Tre'Quan Smith is sidelined with an ankle injury.
