Ziggy Ansah inactive for Seahawks' opener against Bengals

Detroit Lions v Arizona Cardinals

The debut of Ziggy Ansah for the Seattle Seahawks will have to wait another week.

Ansah was declared inactive for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals as the Seahawks decided he needed a bit more time to get game-ready after missing all of the preseason recovering from shoulder surgery. A pregame workout apparently didn't convince the coaching staff Ansah was ready to go just yet.

"We just got to make sure on game day that everything worked out OK because they're still responding to the workload. There's still a little bit of question for Ziggy," head coach Pete Carroll had said of Ansah's outlook on Friday.

Ansah joins defensive end L.J. Collier (ankle), wide receiver David Moore (fractured humerus) and center Joey Hunt (high-ankle sprain) as players out due to injuries for the season opener.

Guard Mike Iupati is active after being listed as questionable to play on the team's final injury report on Friday. With Hunt inactive, Iupati being available is a big boost for Seattle as he at least backup left guard for Ethan Pocic. With Hunt - the team's only backup center - inactive, Pocic would be needed to move inside should something happen to starter Justin Britt as Iupati would be needed to fill in at guard.

Also inactive for Seattle are cornerback Parry Nickerson, and wide receivers Gary Jennings and John Ursua.

Nickerson is still trying to get up to speed after being acquired in a trade from the New York Jets last weekend.

Jennings and Ursua being scratched give Seattle four active receivers: Tyler Lockett, Jaron Brown, DK Metcalf and Malik Turner.

Metcalf had been somewhat questionable after having knee surgery after the second game of the preseason, but he declared himself 100 percent healthy on Thursday and should be heavily involved in the team's plans.

Turner appeared in six games for Seattle last year, recording two total catches for 20 yards.
