Utah safety Marquise Blair selected by Seahawks with 47th pick in NFL Draft

BYU v Utah

RENTON -- After trading down 10 spots in the second round, the Seahawks added Utah safety Marquise Blair with the 47th overall pick in the NFL Draft on Friday evening.

Blair, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound safety has played both the free and strong safety positions and prides himself on his physicality.

"He's what we covet from a safety," Seahawks west area scout Tyler Ramsey said. "He's a guy that can play either position. He's got great speed on the back end, but really loves to be physical and mix it up in the box near the line of scrimmage."

Blair appeared in 22 career games at Utah after spending two years at Dodge City Community College in Kansas. In 14 games for Utah last year, Blair had 44 tackles with two interceptions and a forced fumble. Scouting reports on Blair describe him as a player that likes to hit.
