Reports: Linebacker K.J. Wright reaches agreement to re-sign with Seahawks

Wild Card Round - Seattle Seahawks v Dallas Cowboys

Linebacker K.J. Wright is set to re-sign with the Seahawks.

Even after reaching an agreement with Mychal Kendricks on a one-year deal on Wednesday, the Seahawks continued to talk with Wright about a deal to remain in Seattle. Per multiple reports, and first reported by Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune, Wright has agreed to re-sign with the team.

A source told KJR Wednesday night that Wright was getting closer to having a deal in hand. However, no particulars were given at the time.

Wright had been steadfast about his desire to remain in Seattle and said he intends to live here when his career is eventually complete as well. However, he had the chance to reach free agency for the first time in his career and wanted to get a deal he felt was fair and accurately represented his value.

"I want to end my career as a Seahawk," Wright said after Seattle's playoff loss to the Dallas Cowboys. "Business happens. It's whatever they want to do. If they want to make it happen, they can.

"It just feels like I'm going to hit the market. It's my first time. I've never went through it before. We've just got to see. I don't know what's going to happen. We just got to see when that time comes. I think it would be in their best interests if I'm here."

Wright missed 11 regular season games last year after a knee injury sustained in the preseason against Minnesota required surgery. He missed the first six games of the season before returning to the field. However, Wright would aggravate the injury just three weeks into his return and miss another five games before returning to the field. He played in each of the final two regular season games and their one playoff game in Dallas.

Wright said at the end of the year that his knee felt back to full strength and he had his best game of the season in Seattle's playoff loss to the Cowboys with eight tackles and an interception.
