High School Broadcaster Loses Temper, and Job

In Indiana, High School basketball is King. When schools have their own announcers, the homer-ism of some broadcasts can get a bit out of hand. Take one recent game between Norwell and Homestead.

Late in the game, Homestead's Trent Loomis put an exclamation point on the win with a dunk, then hung on to the rip a bit too long for the Norwell announcer's taste. The referee called a technical foul, then the announcer lost his mind. Listen below.

The announcer, calling the game for Wellscountyvoice.com, has since resigned from his job and both the website and school have apologized for his comments. No word on if the unnamed announcer has understood that it's just a game played by teenagers.
