J.R. Sweezy active for Seahawks against Cowboys

Seattle Seahawks v Oakland Raiders

ARLINGTON, Tex. -- Left guard J.R. Sweezy is active for Saturday night's playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Sweezy will be in uniform just two weeks after injuring his foot in Seattle's win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Head coach Pete Carroll proved prescient when describing the nature of Sweezy's injury a week ago.

"It's probably a 3-4 week recovery for most people and he's going to do it in two weeks," Carroll said prior to the regular season finale against Arizona. "He'll be ready next week."

Just how much Sweezy will be able to play is still uncertain. Ethan Pocic started last week's game in place of Sweezy as the team told him to stay home from the game to rest his foot. He would be readily available should Sweezy need to be relieved at any point.

Fullback Tre Madden is out after being listed as doubtful due to a hamstring strain on Friday. Madden appeared in all but two games this season for Seattle and leaves the team without a true fullback on their roster. Tight ends Nick Vannett and Ed Dickson will be called upon in that role if necessary. Madden is also a core special teams performer for the team.

D.J. Fluker is back in the starting lineup at right guard after playing just once in the last four weeks due to a hamstring injury. Safety Tedric Thompson also returns to the lineup after missing the final two regular season games with chest and ankle injuries. Seattle is a bit thin at safety after Delano Hill was placed on injured reserve with a non-displaced hip fracture on Tuesday.

Wide receiver Malik Turner, cornerback Kalan Reed, running back Bo Scarbrough, tackle Elijah Nkansah and defensive ends Branden Jackson and Rasheem Green all healthy scratches for Seattle.

For Dallas, guard Xavier Su'a-Filo is out due to an ankle injury. He had been listed as doubful to play. Defensive lineman David Irving is also out with an ankle injury.

Wide receiver Tavon Austin is active despite a groin injury that had him questionable to play. Safety Darian Thompson is out with a groin injury.

Healthy scratches for the Cowboys are: quarterback Mike White, running back Darius Jackson, linebacker Chris Covington and defensive end Dorance Armstrong.
