J.R. Sweezy questionable, Tre Madden doubtful to play against Cowboys

Seattle Seahawks v Chicago Bears

RENTON -- The Seahawks are about as healthy as they can be entering Saturday's Wild Card playoff matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.

Left guard J.R. Sweezy and fullback Tre Madden are the only two players in doubt for the game against the Cowboys. Sweezy is questionable to play due to a foot injury sustained two weeks ago against the Kansas City Chiefs. Madden has a hamstring injury that happened Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals and is doubtful to suit up in Dallas.

"The rest of the guys are ready to go," head coach Pete Carroll said.

Carroll said a week ago that Sweezy's injury is typically a 3-4 week issue. However, he anticipated Sweezy would be ready to play just two weeks after the injury against the Cowboys this weekend.

"It's probably a 3-4 week recovery for most people and he's going to do it in two weeks. He'll be ready next week," Carroll said last Friday.

As the team wrapped their week of practice for the game on Thursday, Carroll seemed optimistic of Sweezy's chances to play.

"Sweezy's got a good chance. He feels great. We'll find out at game time if he can play too," he said. "He's got to run and stay in control of all the movements he's got to do and feel OK about it. And we've got to sense his confidence that he feels good about it. He's telling us everything like he would. He's got to show us."

If Sweezy is unable to play, Ethan Pocic would take over at left guard in his place. Pocic started last week at left guard in place of Sweezy and the previous week at right guard in place of D.J. Fluker before moving to left guard when Sweezy was injured.

Madden appeared in 14 games for Seattle this season and is considered a valuable special teams player in addition to his reps at fullback. Neither Sweezy or Madden practiced the entire week for Seattle.

The remaining 51 players on the roster were all full participants in Thursday's practice and are ready to go.

Right guard D.J. Fluker (hamstring), cornerback Shaquill Griffin (ankle) and safety Tedric Thompson (ankle) are all ready to go. Fluker and Thompson were held out of last Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Griffin was injured in that game and held out of practice this week until Thursday's final workout.
