Delano Hill placed on injured reserve with cracked hip

Arizona Cardinals v Seattle Seahawks

RENTON -- Safety Delano Hill is being placed on injured reserve after sustaining a cracked hip in Sunday's regular season finale against the Arizona Cardinals.

Head coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday that Hill has a non-displaced fracture in his hip that showed up in the days since the win. The issue isn't significant but it will keep him from being able to play for the team's postseason run.

"He's got a crack in his hip. He can get around on it but he's not going to be able to play with that," Carroll said.

Wide receiver Malik Turner is being promoted from the practice squad to take Hill's place on the active roster.

Hill had started the last two games of the regular season in place of Tedric Thompson, who had been out due to chest and ankle injuries. Thompson is expected back this week for Seattle's playoff opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

"He's going (in practice) today" Carroll said. "We're happy to see him. ... We're fortunate that Tedric is coming back."

Cornerback Shaquill Griffin will be held out of practice until Thursday before working on his injured ankle. Griffin rolled the ankle against the Cardinals in the first half and did not return to the game.

"He's OK. He's talking real positive. We're going to try to do something on (Thursday)," Carroll said.

Left guard J.R. Sweezy is moving around better as he tries to work back from a foot injury. Sweezy was injured two weeks ago against the Kansas City Chiefs and was told to stay home from Sunday's win over Arizona to rest his foot. Carroll anticipates Sweezy will be a game-time decision.

"Sweezy is getting around pretty good," Carroll said. "We'll have to see. It's going to go all the way to game-time, but he's getting around OK. He's not in a boot or any of that kind of stuff. He's not limping around so he's very positive that he can make it back. We won't know though (until Saturday)."

Right guard D.J. Fluker is back at practice and expected to play against the Cowboys. He was limited in practice on Tuesday. Fluker's return will move Germain Ifedi back to right tackle and George Fant back to a big tight end role.

Seattle signed safety Marwin Evans to their practice squad to take the place of Turner.
