On Wednesday, Golden State Warriors President Rick Welts joined Jason Puckett for an exclusive interview to discuss next month's NBA pre-season game between the Warriors and Sacramento Kings at Key Arena on October 5th. The game, which is holding a high price-tag for fans who want to attend, will showcase not only the NBA's best team, but also fans in Seattle that have been starved for professional basketball since the SuperSonics left (too many) years ago.
Welts also discussed the prospect of NBA expansion for Seattle and how the Association views the need. or lack thereof, to add Seattle back to the list of NBA cities in terms of finances and competitiveness.
Welts, who is from Seattle and went to the University of Washington, also worked as a ball boy for the Seattle SuperSonics before eventually becoming the team's Director of Public Relations. With Puck, he also talked about his time working for the Sonics and memories of the 1979 NBA Championship.
