Ichiro Breaks the Single Season Hit Record

October 1, 2004 - In Safeco Field, Ichiro Suzuki records his 258th hit of the year, breaking George Sisler's 84-year-old record for most hits in a single season. The Mariners would go on to beat the Texas Rangers, 8-3. Winning pitcher for the Mariners was Ron Villone and the losing pitcher for the Rangers was Ryan Drese.

Ichiro would go on to 262 hits this year.
