Sounders Finish 1-1-1 Stretch with Loss

After a nine day stretch that included three matches against Columbus and on the road against Toronto and Portland, the Seattle Sounders find themselves 2-5-2 on the season, going 1-1-1 in the last week and a half. Still sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference, the club now sends Nicolas Lodeiro, Roman Torres, and Gustav Svensson off to World Cup duty with Uruguay, Panama, and Sweden, respectively.

A 1-0 loss in Portland on Sunday capped the run of games as the team continues to manage mounting injuries, this time to forward Will Bruin with heel pain and Osvaldo Alonso with a quad strain. These are in addition to the already injured Victor Rodriguez, who is much needed in Seattle's attack right now.

The team now has a weekend off before gearing up to face Real Salt Lake in back to back weeks, starting with a May 26 match at CenturyLink Field. Listen to the Postgame Show after the match in Portland below.

Watch highlights from the disappointing loss and Head Coach Brian Schmetzer's Press Conference afterwards below.

Sounders Broadcast Analyst and Seattle University Head Coach Pete Fewing as well as General Manager and President Garth Lagerwey joined Jackson Felts on Sounders Weekly on Tuesday evening to talk about the match in Portland and 1-1-1 stretch as well as the financial details of "buying down" a Designated Player and a new player with S2.
