Seahawks sign Sebastian Janikowski, Stephen Morris

Buffalo Bills v Oakland Raiders

The Seattle Seahawks signed former Oakland Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski to a reported one-year deal on Friday.

Additionally, the team also added quarterback Stephen Morris to the roster.

Janikowski became an unrestricted free agent after spending the first 18 years of his career with the Raiders. Janikowski missed all of last season due to a back injury and will be 40 years old this season. He will compete with Jason Myers for the kicking job. Myers was signed to a futures contract in January.

Janikowski was a first-round pick of the Raiders in 2000. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2011 and was a second-team All-Pro that year as well.

He made 29 of 35 field goal attempts in 2016 with a long of 56 yards and converted 37 of 39 extra point attempts in his last season of action.

Morris gives Seattle a second quarterback on their roster as they prepare for the start of their offseason program. Russell Wilson has been the only quarterback on the team since the Seahawks released Trevone Boykin after a legal incident last month.

Morris hasn't appeared in a regular season NFL game but has spent parts of the last four seasons with four separate teams. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He's also played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts and Washington Redskins.

Morris completed 38 of 56 passes for 399 yards with a touchdown last preseason with the Colts. New Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was Morris' quarterbacks coach in Indianapolis.
