Mike Holmgren on Seahawks firing Darrell Bevell and Tom Cable

After the Seahawks finished with a 9-7 record this season and missed the playoffs for just the second time in Pete Carroll's tenure, many knew this would be an off-season of change. Yesterday, Sports Radio 950 KJR's Seahawks Reporter Curtis Crabtree reported the Seahawks fired Offensive Coordinator Darrell Bevell and today the Seahawks also confirmed the firing of Offensive Line Coach Tom Cable

Former Seahawks Head Coach, Mike Holmgren, joined The Ian Furness Show today and said this was a desperation move by the Seahawks.

"Little bit of smacks of desperation to me, the guys they let go they're good coaches, all of sudden they're bad coaches? No, there's an underlying story here that would be interesting to get to."

Holmgren also did not agree with firing Darrell Bevell or Tom Cable.

"Yeah, I don't think they should've been fired, no I don't. They've been in the playoffs and close to the Super Bowl every year. This year, five or six of their best players got hurt... Someone (has) to take the hit I suppose, at least that's the feeling I get in the building. I think there's a little rush to judgement."

Seahawks Defensive Coordinator Kris Richard, in his third season as a coordinator, could also be done in Seattle, according to Sports Radio KJR's Dave "Softy" Mahler.

"To me they're kind of blowing things up and starting all over..."

The NFL being the major business it is today, Holmgren said eventually the players will move on.

"They'll have a moment of (feeling) bad about it, but then when it comes down to it, when it really comes right down to it, it's just like if they trade your best-friend on the team, a player, you don't like it, but it's the business side of it. Players bounce back pretty quickly..."
