Washington vs. Oklahoma - NCAA Tournament - Second Round

Following their NCAA Tournament opening win on Saturday vs. Montana State, the Washington Huskies welcomed in Oklahoma for a berth into the Sweet Sixteen. Tonight's game would mark the final home game the Huskies would have the chance to host and also the final game senior guard Kelsey Plum could dazzle Husky fans.

The Huskies opened the game on a 7-0 run that forced an early Sooners timeout and energized the home crowd. A high scoring affair became evident early as both team shot over 50% from the field in the first half. Oklahoma eventually dug itself out of their quick deficit and briefly took a 31-30 in the early stages of the 2nd quarter. However, the Dawgs immediately ripped off a 12-0 run to propel themselves to a 54-47 lead at the break. Kelsey Plum and Aarion McDonald led the way with a baker's dozen apiece as four Huskies reached double-figures by halftime.

When play resumed, UW quickly extended their lead when Plum capitalized on the opening trips down the floor including a four point possession following a flagrant foul. The lead continued to build as the Sooners found themselves facing a steep uphill battle to claw back into the game. During the third quarter Kelsey Plum set the record for the all-time single season scoring record with 1,064 points. She also recorded her first double-double as the lead Dawg scored a game-high 38 points and dished out 11 assists.

Washington reached the century mark midway through the point and the remainder of the contest was merely procedural. The home team cruised to a 108-82 victory and faces Mississippi State in the Sweet 16 round. Mike Neighbors earns his 98th win at the helm in Montlake. Will he reach his 100th in back-to-back trip to the final four?
