Seahawks agree to terms with Luke Willson, DeShawn Shead

The Seahawks have agreed to terms on contracts with tight end Luke Willson and cornerback DeShawn Shead.

A team spokesman confirmed the agreements to KJR Friday morning. Both deals are reportedly one-year contracts. Terms have not been disclosed.

Shead continues to recover from a torn ACL sustained in Seattle's NFC Divisional Round playoff loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Janurary. He became an unrestricted free agent when the Seahawks elected not to tender him a contract as a restricted free agent. He re-signs with Seattle after reportedly visiting the Buffalo Bills earlier this week.

Shead will likely be unavailable to play for Seattle until after the start of the regular season. Shead's injury came in mid-January with typical recovery time lasting at least nine month. Jeremy Lane was unable to return from his torn ACL in Super Bowl XLIX until midseason in 2015.

Shead has appeared in 52 games over the last four seasons for Seattle and assumed the full-time starting job opposite Richard Sherman last year. He started 15 games with 81 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble and 14 passes defended.

Willson has played in 56 games over the last four years and started 30 games. He caught 74 passes for 976 yards and seven touchdowns during his tenure in Seattle. His 22 catches for 362 yards and three touchdowns in 2014 are all career-highs.

Willson also dealt with a knee injury last year, missing five games and needing surgery to repair an MCL sprain suffered in Seattle's regular season meeting with Atlanta.

Both signings are strong depth signings for the team. Willson slots back in as the No. 2 tight end behind Jimmy Graham and Shead will be in the mix to re-gain his starting job once healthy.
