A new look for the Seattle Kraken is coming this season.
The Kraken announced a new third jersey on Thursday morning ahead of the 2025-26 season, a creative approach to an alternate sweater that has taken subtle effect in the National Hockey League. The jersey's top feature is glow-in-the-dark equipped, an effect that will enwrap the jersey's main crest, side and back numbers, and back nameplate - a similar nod to the Dallas Stars current third jersey and an Adidas specialty manufactured "reverse retro" model worn by the Vegas Golden Knights in 2022-23.
The jersey will also take on a black color base, new to the team's primary blue-shaded palette and red trim, and complete with matching black-colored helmet, socks, gloves, and hockey pants. The Kraken - who designed the uniform set with team input from president of hockey operations Ron Francis and general manager Jason Botterill - will wear the third jerseys for 11 home games and a Dec. 4 road game at Edmonton.
Scheduled to debut on Nov. 1 against the New York Rangers at Climate Pledge Arena, fans wearing the third jersey at the game and future home games will have an interactive role in the game presentation with a glow-in-the-dark effect, according to a team statement.
"It just looks mean," Kraken VP of branding Aaron Wiggan told 93.3 KJR-FM and the Ian Furness Show.
"That was the brief from hockey ops, we're talking to Ron, and (Botterill), and (captain) Jordan Eberle and those guys, they said they want a jersey that makes them look tough, makes them look meaner out in the ice."
The jersey's inner collar displays the geographic coordinates of Climate Pledge Arena inside of a red-colored trim and a glow-in-the-dark sponsor patch bearing Muckleshoot Indian Tribe.
Jerseys will be available to order via presale on from Sept. 5-10 for Kraken season ticket members, and to the general public starting Sept. 11. Kraken team stores will start selling the jerseys and themed merchandise in October.
